It would be most correct to frame the review on Human Revolution a bunch of all sorts of inserts with additional materials in which we would competently talk about cyberpunk, about thematic references, about a ton of “Easter eggs”. And the whole article would be imbued with an enthusiastic spirit – they say, the coolest RPG has appeared on the shelves, we must buy it and all that. There’s just no need for all this. Dedicating materials to great games that appear every few years is always very, very difficult. And not because the words disappear somewhere, but because my hands are shaking from awe, like a dentist’s at the first appointment. Everything is a little simpler. Deus Ex everyone is hearing about it now. They go through it, study it in detail, competing to see who can “highlight” all the “achievements” the fastest. And then they rediscover themselves in search of other ways and solutions. And they discuss. There is a lot of discussion… In this case, our combination of reviews “text plus video” is just a confirmation of the general opinion, nothing more. Therefore, I would like to devote the central place on this page to an explanation of why Human Revolution worth going through at least once.
Adam’s apple of discord
We are so used to simple and spectacular games. We almost always treat them with irony, saying: “Well, it’s empty and simple entertainment with special effects – but it’s fun!» Shooters, together with role-playing, excuse me, epics and all sorts of indie strategies, make us think, study, and draw parallels with real-world events less and less often. It is now customary to put entertainment and accessibility at the forefront of gameplay. This is when everything seems to look beautiful, but requires minimal participation from the viewer. Human Revolution is unique in that it spits on many of the developments and laws of the industry that have been formed over the past seven years from the skyscraper of a night city strewn with neon banners.
If we consider the phenomenon of the third Deus Ex With a healthy dose of skepticism, we can assume that the developers made Adam’s story exactly like this only because they blindly followed the canons of the series, the potential of which is as limitless as cyberpunk itself. This is partly true. But you need to understand: in the hands of Eidos Montreal there were only general rules once invented Warren Spector concepts. Everything else is the team’s personal desire to show the gaming world that it is possible and necessary to turn away from the path of industry development.
The essence of the gameplay Human Revolution easy to describe with dry facts that are sizzlingly convincing, and in a particular case this will be to her advantage. How nice it is to talk about such important things as the non-linearity of each level, the mass of options for the development of events in a separate section of the mission, the endless combination of stealth with “noisy behavior”, and understand that here all this really works at the proper level. The ability to conduct a dialogue with a character most directly affects subsequent events. And if you set someone up, don’t forget that a few hours later the offended simpleton, in a fit of rage, will put the barrel of a gun to your head. And the rescued terrorist will offer all possible help.
That same two-link “choice-consequence” chain that developers www.nonukcasinosites.co.uk/review/spaceslots-casino/ were proud of without undue modesty almost always shows its worth. Yes it works. IN Deus Ex: Human Revolution almost everything works. The plot captivates you from the first minutes – events develop like a snowball, and closer to the middle of the game you will be watching the next video with amazing attentiveness and uncharacteristic sensitivity. In addition to the central story, there is also a compelling pile of additional. None of them – really none! — I don’t dare call it a side quest. The additional task here is a detective story full of intrigue and unexpected twists with a characteristically unclear ending. It doesn’t matter what you have to do – whether you help an exhausted mother find out the truth about her daughter’s death, or arrange the death of an influential Chinese bad guy so that it passes for an accident..
Spector’s car
The ability to choose a passing style that suits your temperament implies a flexible leveling system. Let us immediately note that you can experience all the beautiful things that Adam Jensen did in the trailers to the fullest. Invisibility, calculated close combat, painless landing from any height, ultra-protection and super-speed, the ability to see through walls and break them – try it, experiment.
With special dexterity, the desire to study every nook and cranny and help everyone in the world, closer to the middle of the game, you can turn the main character into a real “universal”. After all, experience is awarded for almost any contextual action. Starting from the search for hidden places and ending with the persuasion of particularly stubborn intellectuals. Then the patient little ones will be able to see with their own eyes that the campaign can be completed not only by injecting each creature with a bullet, but also by carefully lulling the stupid bastards to sleep with tranquilizers. Or maybe both. Or even the third – crawl through the stuffy “guts” of ventilation, pick the door lock of the apartment of some extremely important person, steal his pocket computer with passwords and get to the desired place at the lowest cost.
Of course, maximum Human Revolution revealed during a “secret” passage. After all, hiding in dark corners, sneaking around roofs and enemy offices in camouflage mode, knocking everyone out on the sly, storing bodies in inconspicuous offices – all this is secretly required by the atmosphere. But also as a shooter Deus Ex quite good too. A lot of types of weapons (the fact that there is only one individual weapon in each category is not important), well-coordinated work of AI (especially on high difficulty), beautiful handling of cover by the hero and pleasant sounds of gunfire can instantly turn a stealth action game into a self-sufficient action movie. And the intelligent architecture of the levels allows you to combine both modes, leading the guards by the nose at first and brutally dealing with them with a shotgun blast to the face after a long hide and seek among tables, boxes, cola machines and other furniture.
During the breaks between combat actions of different devices and styles, the most amazing dialogues happen. It’s true that you can screw up your interlocutor and unwittingly silence him. We advise you from the very beginning to improve the chip responsible for personal analysis and selection of the right channel for communication. This way, learning secrets will be more fun, and convincing will be easier. Conversations generally receive a lot of attention. Even those in which you may not directly participate. Don’t be shy to eavesdrop on the chatter of ordinary people – this way they will share valuable information with you (where, what, from whom and how you can steal), and they’ll simply feed fresh gossip into your ears. Communication with key characters is initially shoved into videos, but, again, closer to the middle, Jensen will have real verbal duels more and more often. It is at such moments that analytical thinking and the ability to put pressure on your interlocutor at the right moment, knowing his characteristics, will serve you well, bringing unique pleasure from a positive result.
But trying is in the name of something – the very attack on the office of Sarif Industries threatens to become the beginning of a series of events, the description of which should safely be omitted for “anti-spoiler” reasons. Those who have been waiting for a beautiful cyberpunk story, but have not previously tempted themselves to study such works, are in for a most pleasant surprise. Well, the players who have seen the first two Deus Ex and those who reviewed Descartes’ love story for Nexus-6 will be slightly disappointed. Because they, as fans of the genre, will not discover anything fundamentally new for themselves – they will only admire the work of the screenwriters in juggling truths that have long been accepted in the corresponding cultural environment.
Technophile aesthetes will also remain slightly bewildered. Series Warren Spector I’ve never been about beautiful graphics. The first part at the time of its release was considered hopelessly outdated – selfless fans eradicate injustice by replacing textures, sounds and everything that can be. “Audio” in Human Revolution it doesn’t disappoint – noisy cities are thoroughly saturated with natural sounds, and the atmospheric and “thick” ambient smoothes out the impression of what at first glance is not the best picture. But did someone really not like it – with such and such a design?.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution extremely atypical for a role-playing game from 2011. It is too complex, stylish, requires a lot of attention, is not deprived of a beautiful story with interesting additional tasks and excellent dialogues, very smart and quite long. A working fusion of several genres at once, a wonderful fairy tale (is it a fairy tale??) about the value of pristine human essence and convincing proof that sometimes high hopes are justified. You just have to believe. Believe me too. Discover Deus Ex, if you haven’t done so already.
Pros: excellent plot; thoughtful and original secondary tasks; interesting dialogue system; complex combat system with stealth, close combat and shooting; a delightful atmosphere and an indescribable feeling that before your eyes is the real Deus Ex; and there are no gays here.
Cons: you can indicate in the comments – our hand didn’t go up.
